I am actually just getting started in railroading as spawned from a project for a local coal fair with my 7th and 8th graders. I wanted to bring the hobby to them by having them replicate a CSX coal train in HO scale, as we live in West Virginia and that's what they've seen all their lives. We do have a nice Norfolk and Southern across the state line in KY, though. Our train loads and dumps coal, but nothing of your standards. This is by far the most mechanized model scene I have seen. I am a science teacher and very interested in the ways in which you animated such small items with servos and circuitry, especially flashing LEDs and motion. If you have any explanations or tips, I would love to hear from you so I can incorporate a little animation into our railroad this year or next. http://statensisland.webs.com/apps/photos/

Great Layout, I visited you back in 2000 when I was working in Allentown Pa. I just finished building one of your Rotary Dumpers I acquired from a fellow N Scaler a few years back. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind emailing me back.

Great looking layout. Kudos! Currently I'm on "my own" phase 1. It's 8 feet long and only 6 inches deep and represents the Pennsylvania RR in Harrisburg, Pa...and I guess you could say it's unscenised and decided. :-) Robert

What software did you use to draw your layout diagrams? I am interested in drafting my own layout and want to get the same kind of result you did.

I used to have N scale but moved too many times to keep it up. I love the degree of animation on your layout. Very clever, keep up the imaginative work.

Hi Mister Spano,
30 years ago I bought to you ( in fact my late father) a rotary car dumper; I send You a message for this purpose a few years ago.
For unknow reasons I never built it but friday I see a post on the MR forum about Nscale rotary car dumper; so I built it for the post friday night and share some pictures of it in this post and the WPF post.
I hope if You have some time You took a look of it.
I hope also to correspond whith You about a project I have to build a lift/rotary dumper in Nscale like the one of the late N&W lamberts point-pier 4.
Sincerely Yours.
Marc

Amazing innovation to create your animations. I don't think I'm going to create as detailed effects, but it has sparked my imagination for some of things I want to incorporate into my N scale layout!
